Japanese Serow

A Japanese Serow (Capricornis crispus) peers through the dense forest undergrowth. A bizarre, enigmatic animal, the serow is a caprine, or "Goat-antelope." It is a national symbol of Japan, given "Special National Monument" status in 1955.
