Mottled Owl

A Mottled Owl peers down from above a country road in Costa Rica.

Flashing owls at night is considered potentially dangerous to the bird, as it could temporarily blind them. It is not something I do. This image was taken at slow shutter speed (1/20 sec) from a tripod, illuminated briefly with a simple flashlight. Not Flashed.
